The incident occurred in the early morning hours of Friday, April 19 in Westbury, according to Nassau County Police.
At approximately 2:15 a.m., 35-year-old Olga Romero-Lopez was driving her black 2011 Toyota

However, police noticed that Romero-Lopez, who is from Levittown, had watery eyes, was unsteady on her feet, and smelled of alcohol. In the car were two young girls, ages 5 and 11.
Police said she did not pass a sobriety test and, in addition, provided officers with an expired New York State learner’s permit.
She was placed under arrest and charged with:
- Aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child under 16 (Leandra’s Law), two counts;
- Endangering the welfare of a child, two counts;
- Driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation; and
- Multiple vehicle and traffic violations.
Romero-Lopez is scheduled to appear at Hempstead’s First District Court on Friday, April 19.
The two children in her car were released into the custody of a family member who responded to the scene.
